Job description

Passionate about modeling real-world physics and turning it into actionable insights? Join a growing team whose baseball and softball tracking runs in stadiums and powers practice and scouting in facilities and academies worldwide!

Our Diamond Sports product team builds tracking used in stadiums, bullpens, training facilities, and academies across pros, colleges, and high schools. We’re growing and looking for a modelling specialist who can simplify complex physical systems into tractable mathematical representations and deliver accurate, reliable outputs in production.

As a Mathematical Modelling Engineer, you can be involved with design, implementation, and testing of models for trajectories and interactions such as bat swing, ball flight dynamics, spin-dependent aerodynamics, impact modelling, and you will quantify uncertainty so end users trust the numbers.

You will work closely with signal processing and computer vision engineers to fuse measurements, estimate parameters, and optimize model performance both in terms of accuracy and execution speed. Expect hands-on ownership from prototype to production, including numerical methods, profiling, and code quality.

You will balance rigor with pragmatism, choosing the right level of fidelity for the job and communicating trade-offs clearly. The position is based at our newly built HQ, Trackman Innovation Center, at the DTU Science Park in Hørsholm – a great environment for innovation and collaboration.

What will you be doing?

  • Build physics-based and data-assisted models for bat swing, ball flight, and impact

  • Estimate parameters

  • Quantify and optimize usage of measurement uncertainty within models

  • Design experiments, datasets, and hypothesis tests

  • Implement models in Python and C++ with numerical care

  • Fuse model outputs with signal processing and computer vision pipelines

  • Add automated tests and reproducible experiments

Job requirements

What are we looking for?

  • MSc or PhD in applied mathematics, physics, engineering, computer science, or similar

  • Strong foundation in mathematics and physics

  • Experience with numerical optimization (linear, nonlinear, constrained/unconstrained)

  • Familiarity with optimization libraries

  • Knowledge of parameter estimation and curve fitting

  • Statistical inference, regression, and hypothesis testing

  • Understanding of measurement uncertainty and noise modelling

  • Proficient Python and C++

  • Experience with data analysis libraries (NumPy, SciPy, Pandas)

  • Solid software practices with Git and reviews

What could also be relevant?

  • Knowledge of sports dynamics (golf, baseball, etc.)

  • Familiarity with motion tracking systems

  • Performance profiling and optimization of numerical code

  • Familiarity with optimization libraries and scientific toolchains

  • Exposure to real-time or embedded constraints

  • Software testing frameworks

What do we offer?

  • Highly skilled colleagues and a collaborative culture

  • Real product impact across elite and developmental baseball and softball

  • Career growth inside Trackman and opportunities to broaden your scope

  • International environment with 35+ nationalities at HQ

  • Social activities and a vibrant engineering community
