Job description

The Category Manager for Mechanics is a critical role connecting Supply chain and R&D hardware development. This role is essential in supporting the R&D team and ensuring the alignment of technical requirements with commercial strategies. Successfully, developing a mechanical category strategy to minimize future sourcing risks, optimize the supplier base, and secure optimal commercial agreements that align with current and future technological needs.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and execute category strategies

  • This involves analyzing the mechanical related product portfolio to ensure cost efficiency, supplier reliability, and alignment with the company’s overall procurement and operational goals.

Supplier Relationship Management

  • Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers with R&D to build a reliable and cost-effective supplier base.

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure alignment with the company's technical and commercial requirements.

Support for Development Team

  • Act as a liaison between the R&D and suppliers, ensuring clear communication of technical requirements.

  • Support the development team by providing insights into the latest commodity market trends.

Risk Management

  • Assess and mitigate future sourcing risks by staying informed about market changes, supplier stability, and potential disruptions.

  • Develop contingency plans to ensure continuous supply of critical components.

Continuous development of our Sourcing Framework

  • Update Mechanical Category Strategy

  • Align our Sourcing framework

  • Negotiate prices

  • Update Supplier Contracts with critical suppliers

Job requirements

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in procurement, preferably within CNC, injections molding and/or surface treatment.

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong understanding of Mechanical design and the Mechanical industry.

  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills.

  • Ability to analyze and interpret technical and commercial information.

  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

  • Proficiency in procurement software and tools.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, especially R&D and development teams.

The successful candidate will play a vital part in bridging the gap between technical requirements and commercial strategies, ensuring the company's procurement activities support its overall objectives. 10-15 travel days are expected yearly.

To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience

  • Degree in engineering, supply or material science

  • The candidate is preferred to have experience within project management and/or procurement

  • Excellent communication (English required – Danish preferred)

  • Used to collaborate across professional, department and national boundaries

  • Ability to work independently, show initiative and commitment to tasks with ability to prioritize and run multiple tasks at the same time without losing overview

  • As a person, you are welcoming, flexible, honest and structured

The Role will report to the Director of Supply Chain and Procurement.
