Job description

TrackMan Baseball is looking for a Japan-based experienced sales, business development, and account management executive to grow and manage our baseball business in Asia.  Along with key external regional partners, you will focus on expanding and managing business with NPB and NPB teams (Japan), KBO and KBO teams (Korea), CPBL teams (Taiwan). You will lead the expansion of TrackMan’s Asia business with online, broadcast and print media partners, equipment manufacturers, and amateur baseball players, coaches and organizations.
 
Serving as TrackMan Baseball’s business lead and primary point of contact in Asia, you will play a key role in new product introductions, partner management, business development, sales, marketing, strategic planning, account management, and contract administration. You are comfortable standing alone, and have a hands-on approach to the daily activities that are important for our joint success.


This is an exciting opportunity for you to help TrackMan further revolutionize and impact the game of baseball.  In the United States, TrackMan technology is installed in all major league and all minor league stadiums, used by all 30 MLB teams for player development and evaluation, and is a core component of MLB’s award winning StatCast system.  While overseeing the APAC market, you will be Japan-based and focused initially and primarily on our Japanese market. 
 
TrackMan Baseball is a division of TrackMan A/S, a fast-growing sports technology company that develops, manufactures and sells 3D ball flight measurement systems for a variety of sports. Originally developed for golf, TrackMan has become the global leader in tracking technology and sports-motion data. 


Serving as the business lead for TrackMan Baseball in Japan and Asia, you will:

  • Identify, research, and quantify new business opportunities across all segments of the baseball market, and present findings to management for consideration.
  • Develop and execute a strategy for TrackMan Baseball’s participation in Olympic games.


Serving as the sales lead for TrackMan Baseball in Japan and Asia, you will:

  • Lead the introduction in Asia of new TrackMan Baseball products and services.
  • Develop go-to-market and sales strategies in Asia, with an initial focus on TrackMan’s upcoming portable tracking system.
  • Sell TrackMan Baseball products and services, working in some cases in collaboration with key regional partners.
  • Collaborate with US and Denmark based counterparts to develop and translate marketing materials, including insights and analysis based on TrackMan data that illustrate the utility of TrackMan Technology
  • Build and manage a sales pipeline.

Serving as Trackman’s primary point of contact with partners and customers in Asia, you will:

  • Develop and maintain close, professional, working relationships with customers and key partners as TrackMan’s regional business lead.
  • Develop and maintain relationships across many customer and organization departments as appropriate (e.g., baseball operations, analytics, scouting, player development)
  • Work in close collaboration with TM Baseball management to negotiate, write and administer contracts and amendments.
  • Work in close collaboration with TrackMan field operations, engineering and data operations to ensure that contractual obligations are met and customers are satisfied with products and services.
  • Work in close collaboration with TrackMan finance to ensure timely and accurate payment of invoices, and support the development of finance reports for TrackMan management.
  • Work in close collaboration with management to develop hardware and revenue forecasts based on your knowledge of customer needs, budgets and timelines.
  • Provide translation services and facilitate communication between TrackMan’s customers/partners in Japan, and TrackMan’s US and Denmark based staff.
  • Grow TrackMan Baseball’s APAC sales and business organization, and grow and manage strategic partners.

Requirements

  • Ability to communicate fluently in English and Japanese verbally and in writing
  • Strong sales and business experience with five or more years of relevant experience in sales, account management, or business development within sports, media, or similar technology company; Experience with data focused products and services is a plus.
  • Strong baseball industry knowledge or experience
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team
  • Excellent communication skills and good public speaker
  • Driven, and hard worker who delivers on commitments
  • Able to commute to and work in Tokyo, Japan daily, and travel on short notice
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of products
